Santoni
Digital architectures for omnichannel luxury retail.
Santoni, an Italian maison founded in 1975, represents the pinnacle of Made in Italy excellence in luxury footwear. With over 500 employees and a presence in more than 100 countries through flagship boutiques and prestigious department stores, the company has embarked on a path of technological evolution to meet the challenges of the global market.

GOALS AND NEEDS
The project arose from the need to orchestrate data and processes across legacy systems, cloud platforms and international marketplaces, ensuring high performance and real-time data consistency.
The technological roadmap involved a complete transformation of the company’s architecture, starting with the migration of the existing legacy platform to a cloud-native infrastructure. Crucially, the implementation of a data lakehouse was required to centralise enterprise data management and ensure the real-time orchestration of information flows between over eight mission-critical systems. Particular attention was paid to the standardisation of processes and data governance, ensuring the proper scalability to handle peak loads from international marketplaces.
SOLUTION
The enterprise architecture implemented on Microsoft Azure represents a complete transformation of the digital infrastructure of a luxury brand, structured around four strategic components.
- At the core is an integration platform, a sophisticated system that orchestrates the centralised management of key entities such as customers, inventory, orders, price lists, catalogue and returns, interfacing with management systems, the order management system and the CRM platform. Azure Event Grid ensures smooth event-driven order management within the ecosystem, while a centralised API Gateway system optimises the control and routing of integrations.
- To enhance retail operations, a headless clienteling application was developed, offering real-time integration with backend systems, ensuring a unified view of products, customers and in-store operations. Two-way integration with management systems ensures data consistency across all touchpoints.
- The business intelligence platform, migrated to Azure Synapse, implements optimised ETL processes and a standardised framework for automated reporting, supporting data-driven decisions at all organisational levels through Power BI.
- Furthermore, marketplace integration is based on a multi-tenant architecture that manages sales and purchase operations in EU/USA markets through a dedicated platform, automatically orchestrating the flow of product information, orders, returns, price lists and inventory between the main marketplaces in both markets.
The architecture leverages the entire Microsoft Azure technology stack, ensuring enterprise performance, security and scalability. The implemented solution enables efficient management of data flows, laying the groundwork for future implementations of artificial intelligence that can further enhance data analysis and service personalisation, maintaining the high-quality standards that distinguish the brand in the luxury market.
“The partnership with Altitudo has allowed us to implement a modern and scalable enterprise architecture. We have transformed our ability to manage complex omnichannel operations, with significant improvements in performance, scalability and time-to-market.”
